Climate
The climate can generally be described as tropical. As the country is affected by monsoon, it is hot and humid with an overage temperature around 27C . There are two distinct seasons: the Rainy Season and the Dry Season. However, the dry Season is divided into two sub-seasons, cool and hot. These seasons are:
The Rainy season:
From June till October 27-35.C
The Dry season (Cool):
From November till February 17-27.C
The Dry season (Hot) :
From March till May 29-38.C
When to go
The best time of year to visit Cambodia is December and January. This is the height of the cool, dry, northeastern monsoon which flows from November through March.
The best time to see Angkor Wat, however, is in late October at the end of the rainy season when all of the moats are brimming and the jungle is lush. Be prepared for quick torrential downpours in the evening.
Fortunately this time of year also coincides with the Bon Om Tuk or Water Festival. The exact date varies though it's usually in early November. The Bon Om Tuk celebrates the change in direction of the Tonle Sap River as the floodwaters return to the Mekong River.
Another interesting time to be in Cambodia is during the Khmer New Year festivities, which occur in mid-April. Unfortunately this is also the hottest and most humid time of year. You should try to avoid Phnom Penh during elections.
